Meet the Team

Alison Hankey, Editorial Director

Alison has been working in non-fiction publishing for more than 25 years. She began her career as an Editorial Assistant at Williams & Wilkins (now Wolters Kluwer), a medical publisher based in Baltimore, Maryland.   While there, Alison progressed to roles of increasing responsibility, including Foreign Rights Manager and International Marketing Manager for Electronic Media.  Between 2000 and 2008, Alison developed an expertise in content licensing at MediMedia where she launched, a medical image licensing business featuring the artwork of the great American surgeon Frank H. Netter.  As Senior Acquisitions Editor at Jones & Bartlett Learning and Jossey-Bass, and Executive Editor at Wiley, Alison collaborated with authors of diverse backgrounds - physicians, business leaders and management experts, many of them global thought leaders in their fields. Prior to joining NB in 2016, she worked in the Channel Development division of Skillsoft, an eLearning pioneer. As the Editorial Director for NB, Alison commissions new works in the business genre with an emphasis on books and authors that offer new approaches to common problems and big ideas that will endure.
